Hoot Owl Hill, the home of Steve and Brenda Wrischnik is  a 14-acre property overlooking the Marais de Cygne river valley in Miami County, Kansas, just 3 ½ miles west of Paola.  Our property supports 2 vineyards of Concord and Frontenac gris grapevines, an espaliered fruit tree “Secret Garden”, berry patches, raised bed vegetable gardens, butterfly gardens, and a native wildflower meadow for meditation walks. We are a certified Monarch butterfly waystation, a certified Wildlife Habitat, and our resident free-range turkey, ducks, chickens and guineas keep us entertained and stocked with delicious eggs that we use in our breakfasts and dinners. We have two beautiful indoor B&B rooms available, and if you want to be part of the great outdoors but aren’t really a camper, we have 7 spacious bell tents for Glamping, or Glamorous Camping. Brand new for 2016 is our Glamping Cabin, “The Hoot House”- a private large and cozy canvas wall tent that will accommodate larger slumber party groups..

Our Glamping business is a “camping” bed and breakfast, so breakfast is included with every Glamping experience. Garden-to-table meals are available for an extra charge on request, and are usually served on our large wraparound porch overlooking the gardens and the vineyards. Each of our beautiful bell tents holds up to three queen-sized inflatable beds, and come as a completed ‘room’ with bedding, rugs/mats, lanterns, and furniture as space demands, so they are great for friends and families.  Picnic tables, 2 community fire pits stocked with wood, Johnny-on-the-spot stations with water and towels for wash-up, and a charming, rustic shabby chic outdoor shower complete with hot and cold water are also available nearby the tents. We take the “rough” out of “roughing it”!  Photos of our tents and our property can be found on our website and on our facebook page  www.hootowlgardens.com

Glamping rates for our bell tents are $99.00 per person per night and includes breakfast. Add $37.00 for a garden-to-table meal, Hoot Owl Hill style- delicious and home made. Prices do not include Miami County sales tax.  The pricing is per person only, no group rates; however, if you are interested in renting the entire venue, pricing is quoted as an event per contractual arrangement.  Pricing for The Hoot House cabin is handled separately, and a minimum guarantee of 6 is required to reserve.

In order to reserve your spot, we will send you an agreement to complete, sign, and send back to us with a deposit. Due to the fluidity of our reservation demand and the limited number of openings, we consider all situations on a first come first served basis. We are unable to “hold” spots and will secure a spot ONLY with a completed and signed agreement AND a 50% deposit.

Are you celebrating a special occasion? Ask us about our exclusive Owl Hill Naturals small-batch spa products, produced right here on Hoot Owl Hill. We can create beautiful gift baskets of our lavender lotions, soaps and sprays for every budget.

Many times visitors will ask us, “What is there to do in Miami County?”  There are many wonderful agritourism businesses around Hoot Owl Hill including Louisburg Cider Mill, Powell Observatory, Cedar Cove big cat sanctuary, Terabithia Goat Farm, Prothe’s Pecan farm, Sunflower Orchards, and of course- the wineries! Check out Somerset Ridge, Nighthawk and Middlecreek vineyards and wineries for lots of fun and good Kansas-made wine.  The Miami County Trolley offers a tour of the wineries for a small fee.  For a full listing of attractions visit these websites:
